Hello everyone! Today has been a rough day, I can't even type a lie (lol), but I can share this Valentines Day outfit idea to take my mind off of more difficult things. I've always been a language arts kinda girl, so I find inspiration in words. In honor of Black History Month I searched for some quotes by Richard Wright and this one really spoke to me:
"I would hurl words into this darkness and wait for an echo, and if an echo sounded, no matter how faintly, I would send other words to tell, to march, to fight, to create a sense of the hunger for life that gnaws in us all." - Richard Wright, Black Boy
When was the last time you sent your words to fight for you? Activism through words comes natural to me, even before I became an attorney I was an outspoken young person who was not afraid to advocate on behalf of myself or others. But what happens when you arrange your words like disciplined little troops and send them into war but still loose the battle?
Anywho, I love this V-Day outfit idea. I started with an oldie but goodie, this Alexander Wang mesh/pipe-detailed skirt, and old piece of lingerie as a top, old Express suit jacket, old Nordstrom sandals and this beaded Madam Wokie clutch as my little piece of Africa for the night. There are a million great reasons to carry a little piece of Africa with you, but I do it for the LOVE.
