Last weekend was a prime example of why I love the summer time. All of the weddings, cookouts and day parties give me ample opportunity to do what I love most; spend time with loved ones. After a really fun day with my cousins at a company day party, I spent Sunday close to home with my love at the summer spirit festival.
I wanted to look cool, feel comfortable and still keep it classy during this outdoor concert, so I built my outfit around this chic Loza Maleombho top that I picked up from Alara in Lagos. Alara is a concept store that caters to the global African woman with a penchant for luxury and contemporary design. Visiting Alara is an experience that feels more like a trip to a very inclusive fashion museum, with fine clothing, shoes and housewares from Italy to South Africa and everywhere in between. I picked up this top because it embodies everything that I adore about Loza Maleombho's designs. Characteristically structured yet sultry, Maleombho's pieces are often inspired by her rich culture and prominent historical figures who were able to balance femininity and power. This translates into clothing that is somewhat architectural in structure, yet careful to accentuate some of the most delicate attributes of a woman's physique.
I definitely felt 90s Janet Jackson vibes with the choker, but on the whole, this outfit made me feel amazing and set the tone for a beautiful day. What do you think? And would you wear this Loza top?
