Christmas and New Years are almost here and for me this means that I’ll either be hosting, or attending gatherings with family and friends to celebrate the season together. Now I’m always interested in looking good, but at this time of year I’m also interested in having a couple extra pieces of dessert and still looking fly while doing it.

That’s why I’m so excited about the recent trend of women wearing bubus (or boubous). Traditionally, a bubu is an oversized gown typically worn by men in North and West Africa. Recently, adaptations of the traditional garb have become popular for women, and it has given us a stylish option for relaxed casual glamour that gives total rich-aunty vibes every time you reach for it!

The Butterfly Bubu, an adaption of the traditional gown that we carry at Posh Africana, is special because of its versatility. It can be unbuttoned and worn completely open as a kimono, it has draw strings on the sides that can shorten the length of the gown and enhance the ruffling at the sides and it can be worn closed as shown here to cover that food baby while slaying all your cousins at family dinner, lol.
